Went to Derek and Allison's for some holiday grub. We had a South Bay reunion of sorts. Friends from all over...Houston, Tennessee and elsewhere. Good times...and best of all Chef Mark did the heavy lifting and we got to have some Prime Rib baby!

My sister and I up with the homie Davie for some grub and some watch talk and basic catch up on life and all things. Davie is my watch godfather...the one that got me into fine watches and continues to school me on the hot ish out there....this dude is just bananas when it comes to fine watches...I am very lucky to have guys like this on my side.

So we met up at the usual spot in Hacienda Heights which is pretty much the middle for both of us. We had dinner at SUPREME DRAGON in the mall on Colima off of Fullerton Road.

Had the standard...onion pancakes.

These are the Siu Long Bao...

We all had the beef stew noodles......I have to admit. They were very good. Not the best and def not the worst. A pretty good noodle. Good flavor on the beef, noodles done right and the broth was great in the cold night. I enjoyed my meal.

After eating we all hopped over next door to Garden Cafe for some Red Bean Ice and continue chatting. Service pretty awful...and needed more condensed milk for the Red bean....anyways...moving on to the goodies in Davie's box.

Final Touches on HAYASHI WHEELS Project

My wheels were all perfect but one thing was missing. CENTER CAPS. 99% of these old school wheels you find NEVER have the original Center Caps. Having them on your wheels is a big deal. My Hayashis did have center caps...so I did the next best thing. I bought and MADE my own!

Some generic plastic center caps... they came silver so I spray painted them a semi gloss black.

I found the ORIGINAL HAYASHI RACING LOGO on the net and had my friend make them into a decal. I placed them on...and here it is....

not bad....not totally original...since the old school caps actually stick out and are not flush like these. But I am happy on how they came out!

HID Install

I did a major lighting upgrade this evening. Went with HIDs for my lights. I chose the Xenon low/Halogen high in the H4 set up with 6000K temp bulbs.

the kit was purchased at HIDExtra.com. Great plug and play...very simple.

Very straight forward install....we had to do some tweaks here and there...but it all worked out.

Finished....very very bright. I am pretty happy! I know it is not "Period Correct" but I guess I can say its more for a safety reason! LOL!

I had to run some errands today in Downtown LA. I wanted to check out the new stops on the Metro GOLDLINE especially the one in Little Tokyo. I am sooooo happy that this is ready and available. Off I went....the trip started out very nicely! See below!

I walked to the machine and guess what I saw? The machine had not ONE but TWO available one way tickets for the taking. For those of you that do not and have not taken the metro, when you buy a ticket you have a certain amount of time to use the ticket. If you take it for 5 mins or for 2 hours same same. As I walked up I saw the 2 one way tickets available. Both expired in about 1.5 hours. Plenty of time to get to my destination. As I was standing there...a couple walked passed and gave me THEIR ALL DAY PASS. I thanked them and the girl said that a women actually gave it to them as she was getting off the train. I am sure METRO is probably not happy to hear people are "sharing" their tickets but this reminded me of the commercial where one person is nice to someone else and it goes on and on. What did I do when I got home? I too placed my all day pass on the machine in the hopes that someone else can use it. Very cool feeling indeed.

My stop came and here I was.....

I swear I do not think I will ever drive to J Town again. This is just too easy. You exit on Alameda and 1st street and can walk anywhere you want. THIS IS SOOO GREAT. I went ahead and ran my errands...and then went to Daikokuya...yummy!

Here is the the Ramen combo....mmm mmm mmm the fried rice here is DA BOMB.

What a great meal. Good stuff and no stress travel. LOVE IT.

Met up this evening for an early dinner at THE YORK. This is a place I have known all my life. It used to be the Dragon Chinese restaurant. My family and I used to order their egg foo young. So good...it was deep fried and had this thick brown gravy. I have yet to find another place that had it. Anyways...this is the new gastro pub/ bar cool hipster scene in Highland Park. Part of the whole gentrification of my hood. My first job was across the street at the old York Liquor store and used to play pool at Highland Billiards etc. I grew up on this block so I have lots of memories.

The year is 1997. Game 5 of the NBA Finals. Bulls vs Jazz. MJ comes down with a bad stomach bug. He is told not to play. He plays.

At the end of the game, completely fatigued and exhausted, he collapses into Pippen's arm.

Final score - 97-38. BULLS WIN.

This epic and historic game has come to be known as THE FLU GAME. Where MJ did not stop, would not stop. He knew this was a critical game and he had to play for himself and his team. MJ showed the world his fierce spirit and drive that is he known for.

On Black Friday 2009, Jordan brand is releasing the Retro Air Jordan XII in the exact colorway MJ wore in that game in 1997. The shoe has some differences that have been controversial in the sneaker community like the changing of materials and the adding of some details to pay tribute to this shoe and what it represents.

One of the debates surround the "sick face" some like it some hate it. Does it ruin the shoe? I dont think so. I know it is not an OG, I know its not an OG Retro. This is a tribute shoe and I guess it needs to make itself different from previous retros to protect the integrity of the others.

Over the shoe is very striking and looks great. Craftsmanship is subpar as most Jordans are now a days. Glue marks and the suede material gets very dusty and ashy. But still the shoe makes a statement...as it should.

So one of these days I need to tune up the chariot. I have all the OG stuff I need. Castro GTX Oil, some Lucas Oil Stabilizer that is supposed to be the shizzle. I have the standard Fram PH3693A, the NGK Plugs - BR8EQ-14 and NGK "Blues." Then picked up Bosch OEM cap and rotor.

Figured I will get around to this sooner or later.

On the car...

not quite "Hella Flush" but kinda close...

I think that now I know how the car sits, the next tires I get will go for more of a stretch look to really complete the old school hella flush look.

Biscuits from heaven...with butter and home made jam. The blackberry and peach preserves are the bomb diggity.

I had the steak biscuits with hashbrown casseroles...OMG those were soooo good. MAN!

Hashbrowns baked with cheese...cannot go wrong.
