WOD - 7/31 and Video

Had a GREAT workout this morning! Here is what I did....

Jumprope

If you saw my previous post I picked up an Again Faster Jumprope. The speed rope...seriously the best $10 I ever spent. It cost $10 and I had it CUSTOM FITTED! Plus a Free AG shirt. So let's recap...$10 bad ass jumprope, a t shirt and custom sizing. I jumped with it...200 jumps and it was bad ass and I felt it. Who knew a friggin jumprope can make such a difference? Huge difference. I love my jumprope.

This was inspired by something I saw at the Crossfit Games. It was at the Reebok tent where they had a row test. The best times would get a prize etc. The best time we saw was 35.5 seconds! So I had to try it and my and my friends expectations was trying to get it under 1 min. My friend Brandon expected a 57 sec pull. I did it...

47 seconds!!!!!

So next up...was Farmer's Walks. At the Crossfit games the men's individual had one event I wanted to try. They were holding 125lbs water jugs for 1 min for distance. Soooo...i did the same.

120lb dumbbells for 1 min. I walked 150ft. So yes it was 5 lbs lighter and NOT filled with water. But I walked 120lb dumbells for 150ft. NOT BAD.

Closing Thoughts - 2011 Crossfit Games

Now that I have had some time to think about the games I figured I should post up. This was my first time going as a FAN. Please remember I am not a "real" crossfitter. I do not belong to a BOX the term they call a Crosfit gym. I simply take a few "crossfit type" classes. I watch videos and try my best to follow the WODs and listen to my trainer buddies at my gym.

So after saying all that, I love it. I love the TRIBE...the feeling of belonging to this strange wacky world of fitness fanatics. It inspires me..and we all need inspiration. Watching these bad ass athletics really made me want to do better.

2011 Crossfit Games is basically a "comic con for fitness" with costumes and personalities walking around. It was really a spectacle. People were dressed in "costume" walking around repping their boxes/gyms. I personally had my "outfit" all picked out. I wore my cool "girls" t shirt and my bad ass bright orange INO-8s. Anywhere else I would look like I was trying too hard and kinda of dorky. But here...I was more NORMAL than others. Everyone who saw my shirt knew exactly what it meant. No need to explain. Everyone there spoke the same language. That was the cool. So I know exactly how the super nerd spent all year making his Iron Man costume can rock it proudly in public once a year. Same thing pretty much.

Plus the girls...same as comic con..they have license to walk around pretty much naked. I have no problem with that aspect.

I will definitely go again next year...it was awesome fun and I love the vendors and just people watching.

Lau Bian Dumplings

For dinner went to try another one of Jonathan Gold's recco. Lau Bian Dumplings. The funny thing is the dumplings is not what you have here. His reccos was the spicy chili garlic lamb chops as well as their northern style spicy beef stew noodles. Here is what we had...

now this was very spicy. Pretty much to spicy in my opinion. It was so spicy the flavor was lost...I ate and it was not bad per se...it was simply the chilis overtook the whole dish. All I could taste was the heat.

I am happy I tried and the lamb chops are worth a second visit...but I may try their Dan Dan Mein next time.

Another great morning WOD!

High knees
Side squat walks
Walking pike stretch across room
Lunges back and forth

WORKING SET

30 x Burpees
10 x Squat Thrust (25lbs each)
2-3 min rest
20 x Burpees
20 x Squat Thrust
2-3 min rest
10 x Burpees
30 x Squat Thrust

1 legged squats (10x each leg)
Back Rows x 20 each (30lb dumbbells)
20 x sit ups
5 rounds of the above

Stretch and done!

BUTT BURN?

Last night as I was getting dressed I brushed my big ass and I felt a sting. WTF? So I rub the area again...maybe this is OVER SHARE for all 7 of my blog readers but on the right side of my ass crack area was SORE! Like a rug burn on my ass??? What? I took some hydrogen peroxide and cleaned it and I could not remember WHY WAS THERE A RUG BURN ON MY ASS CRACK? Was I abducted by aliens? What the hell....

Well I found the answer...

let me first go by today's light workout.

I wanted to practice my clean and press. My wrists are not very flexible so I need to practice to get my position for the clean. Did that for a bit and proceeded to the standing overhead presses. Started:

65lbs x 10
90lbs x 10
135lbs x 5
155lbs x 3
165lbs x 1 - personal record*

I wanted to try the WOD from Thursday again and see if I could improve my time.

500M row
40 squats
30 sit ups
20 push ups
10 pull ups (assist 70lb)

I did this on Thursday and got 6:40 which I was not happy with. Sooo...today...

5:47!!!!

Yay baby...I was able to break 6 mins. SOOOOOOOO HAPPY!


back to butt burn...so as I was doing my 30 sit ups...I realized. I BURNED MY ASS DOING SIT UPS! How lame is that? I rug burned my own ass doing sit ups...as the rug/boxers rubbing my butt from pumping the sit ups. Crazy...now there is some pain from sitting. Tailbone/ass crack burned from sit ups...I cannot believe it. Oh well.

Finish off my Sunday with lunch at Corner Bakery with a 1/2 Pannini with mixed green salad and a lemonade. After eating walked over to Aaron Brothers and grabbed a few frames. They have a great special now buy one get the other for a penny! So I stocked up..I had 2 pieces that needed framing. Now I have 2 extra now. I guess that is OK. Always can use frames right?

Now off to a Thai massage after a crazy week of traveling work and working out. Happy Sunday...and ending the evening with the usual Family Dinner with mom. Love days like this....fo real.

7/23 - Brutal AM WOD

What a Saturday! Today was one of "those" mornings. I knew it was going to be hard as our usual trainer was out so my other buddy Brandon subbed. Of course Brandon has a different style and he can program some painful WODs...and today was no different.

Woke up around 745AM, got ready and had 12oz of N.O. Xplode pre workout drink on an empty stomach and headed to the gym.

8:30AM
We killed it. Here is the work out:

WARM UP
Run/Jog/Walk around room
Side steps
Lunges, Spiderman Lunges, Duck Walks
couple sets back and forth of the room of the above.

WORKING SET

75 x Burpees

15 x presses (30lb dumbbells)
25 x situps
35 x squats

5 rounds of the above

FINISH

50 x box jumps/step ups (4 risers each side)
*Rx was 75 for most/50 for others I am in the others category

STRETCHING - DONE. 9:30AM

It was crazy..who the hell does 75 Burpees? I guess I did and so did the rest of the class.

Then I was a GOOD BOY and finished up with a great breakfast. Went to Whole Foods up the street and had:

16oz Juice
- Spinach
- Carrot
- Apple
- Kale
- Chard
- Lime

Breakfast Burrito on whole wheat tortilla
- Egg Whites
- Cheese
- Spinach
- Turkey Sausage

Picked up some Think Thin protein bars for home. I like Think Thins - White Chocolate as it has 20g protein, is gluten and sugar free. So def a "better" protein bar.

Quick SF Trip
