'Glee's' Harry Shum talks 'The Situ-Asian,' Asian Camp and The LXD - From Inside the Box - Zap2it

I have to give my support to GLEE cast member Harry Shum Jr. FINALLY we have a dude on TV, on a major show that has the looks, dance moves and now as millions saw last week the 6 pack to destroy some stereotypes of a "typical" Asian man.

I love that he is NOT a gangsta, fobby ESL dropout or some metaphysical kung fu master...or asexual...meaning he dont like guys or girls...he is just there. Nope...not Harry. Now called The SituAsian by some on the interent, I am giving props to dude and the producers at GLEE for giving him more lines and a storyline. Maybe this can lead to some more "leading man" type roles on TV and FILM that is not just the usual crap of the timid, little kung fu master etc. I can go on and on....much props to my fellow Chinese brother Harry. Keep doing your thang!

Mozilla's SEABIRD concept phone

I wonder if it will be made....great concept nonetheless...

Pushed to my limits....

I usually just post on FB about my work outs and don't blog about it.  But this morning was crazy...I was pushed to my limits.  Here is what we did:

Warm up stretching...pretty standard and usual. We ran a little, did some lunges and then push ups and more running.  Then BOOM....we got started.

29/15/9 reps of the following:

Squat Thrusts, Push Ups, High Knee Jumps

That is ONE set...we did THREE.  Well OK I had to tap out and maybe did 2 1/2 sets. I could not go on.

Then we did resistance sprints...that is what killed me.  OMG...we ran back and forth 2xs in the room for 2 sets.  I have never done these...and man. I was sooo light headed. I almost passed out..or felt like I was going to.  This was the most intense I have ever felt.  Maybe I have been taking it too easy?  Oh was crazy.  The resistance sprints was just crazy bad....

It was a great work out....I feel like crap but a million bucks at the same time.  INTENSE!

WALL STREET 2: Money Never Sleeps

I saw the movie last night at a press screening on the Fox Lot. Here are my rambling thoughts of the movie..

if you LOVE the OG Wall Street and Boiler Room you should enjoy it. There is definitely a good dose of "suspension of disbelief" going on and yes there are some pretty predictable plot lines, but in the end WHO CARES? I really felt it was a good GUYS movie. The baller/money hungry/greedy peeps that deal in NOT millions..but hundreds of millions on the daily. Very cool. I also agree Michael Douglas KILLED IT. Super slick...and yes comes out of jail humbled...until..(no spoiler)!!! Josh Brolin was my 2nd fave character. He plays an ASSHOLE great. This character was similar to his character in American Gangster as the bad FBI agent. Add super rich to that guy and you get him here. Just straight gangster and ruthless. Super SLICK..and has EFF YOU money..and he EFFS YOU all day and dont care. Shia was just Shia...he was ok. But maybe I am being too mean or shallow...but man I was bugged by the girl. Jake's (Shia) fiance/GF bugged me...main reason I really felt she was NOT attractive. I mean...does that sound bad? Maybe I am too "LA" or judging on looks etc..but she looked like an ugly boy to me. She bugged me so much..I know her character was supposed to be "anti establishment, granola, hippie-esque" but ugh..she just was not pleasant to look at. She bugged me.

Here are some things I enjoyed on a strictly personal level. The product placement in this film as you can expect is prominent. I loved the motorcycles. DUCATI is the bike of choice in the movie. Also..IWC watches...among others. Funny Gekko wore a gold Cartier tank watch before he went to jail. Jake also wore a SICK ASS IWC Portugues big face watch in it. Also...fashionwise...I have to mention the SUITS...are just awesome. Jake/Shia really embraced the POWER SUIT. He wore his suits and fat ties like a pro. Just super tight and clean. Which of course you have to believe he is rockin custom suits while riding a motorcycle through NY traffic. Yeah right. Of course Gekko is suited and booted. There is a great montage where Gekko is getting fitted...oh man. I want to dress like that one day...just custom tailored all the way with proper/perfect fit. Jake also uses a Vertu phone and his alarm clock was great. I am going to research it and try to pick one up! hahahaa...

thats it...a good guy movie, and yes..lots of CIGAR smoking.

All in all...go see it with the bros...and you will be good to go!

Sevenstock XIII - 9/18/10: Just the Ladies

This Saturday was the 13th annual SEVENSTOCK held at the Mazda US HQ in Irvine.  I am going to skip all the boring shots of cars...mainly RX7s and all things rotary powered.  I will just post a few pics of the ladies that were in attendance doing work...looking pretty.  Enjoy!

Streamlight PT 2L

Just picked up this pocket flashlight. Streamlight PT 2L, which is a "tactical" flashlight.  It is called this since you can use this in smallish self defense occasions. Main thing is this little bad boy is BRIGHT.  Like 180 lumens bright.  It can temporarily blind an attacker.  Also if held the in the hand in a defense way, it can be used as a kuboton.  You see the edges on the bezel is stepped, this is used on an attacker, if you were to stab that into someone and twist, it would cause pain and damage to the skin.

One good thing is it is small light and super bright.  But maybe I am holding it wrong as it when I was clicking through my thumb as not very comfy.  I will have to adjust to it.  It has 3 modes, HIGH which is super bright, a LOW mode and a very cool STROBE mode.

Halo REACH Launch Event

Above is the link to my set on Flickr from last night's event.  I worked the HALO REACH LAUNCH PARTY held at the Fantasy Factory.  It was so cool getting to see the building that I see on the show. I got to meet Chanel, Rob, Drama, Shepard Fairey and see B.o.B and Diplo perform as well.  Great night, but super tired.

TOURS - my review.

Man I am losing it in old age. I forgot to give a quickie review of the headphones as promised. Well here goes.

I heard a HUGE difference from the crap I used to have as headphones. I think there is a definite strata of quality....

level 1 - the crap...the stuff that comes free with your player. Everyone knows these suck.

level 2 - the low to med level headphones like skull candy and jbuds etc. Pricing can be as low as $20 to about $50 for these headphones. They are a big jump from the freebies and do the job. I use a set of jbuds for the gym.

level 3 - is where you get the good shit. Bose and other "high end" headphones are here. Def over $100 but under $300. And here is the SWEET SPOT for me. these Dre Beats are the truth. They RULE this category.

level 4 - this is the super pro shit that I dont even think an "average' person can tell the difference. These are the SHURES and ULTIMATE EARS and basically studio/DJ quality stuff. Very high end headphones that can cost up to $500 for a set. Crazy I know...

I am listening to my ZUNE 120GB (yes I own a zune) and the bass is richer and deeper and the highs more clear. It is a big jump and I could hear the difference right away. The passive noise cancellation is also on point. If I wear these "correctly" they plug out ALOT of the outside noise. This was the main reason I did not get the studio Beats. I have a couple friends that have them and they are ACTIVE NC which means the headphones need a battery to cancel the noise. I am NOT a fan of that, plus I just like in ears versus over ears in general.

Now the last reason why these are bad ass. THEY LOOK BAD ASS. I guess I like a little bling...a little showyness just like anyone else. These headphones make a statement. Like the rest of the Beats, you cannot mistake or miss the bright red cord and the logo "B." I also really love the flat noodle like cords. It really does the job of not tangling. I tell you, you have these on your ears in an airport or on the train and peeps will know those are BEATS. It def makes a statement and who doesnt like a little attention once in a while? I know I do. All in all, I am sure the super high end headphones are probably better..but I cannot begin to imagine how much better. These sound great and I am very very pleased with them.
