Al and John - my buds

Game recognize game and this man did it way back. So remember to take inspiration from wherever you can but never forget to give credit where’s it’s due and above all else add your own flair, message and personal touch to it.

I ran into Albert Roxas on Saturday Morning and it was a trip because I’ve always been a fan of his work. If you’re not familiar with the name then you might recognize the magazine he launched several years back called TuningWerks. For me personally, that magazine set the benchmark for design and photography and till today it’s never been matched. The paper quality was outstanding (and more along the lines of a coffee book), the design and use of negative space was slick, and the photography was nothing short of stellar.

Sample shot of the photography found inside TuningWerks.

I always looked up to that magazine as motivation and I won’t lie, a lot of inspiration was remixed from that magazine and put into HH. That magazine had soul and you can tell that a lot of effort was put into it and I wanted readers of HH to feel the same way. So if you’re up on the magazine game then you know what I’m talking about, and if you’re not then look back into history and if at all possible pick up whatevers left of TuningWerks because trust me, even up to now there’s no magazine that could go toe to toe with even their oldest of issues.

Here’s a shot that Albert took of the Lexus. Sorry…I still havent taken pictures of it so this’ll have to do for now.
