Daikokuya Ramen

Went to lunch this afternoon with some friends. We went to DAIKOKUYA Ramen (www.daikoku-ten.com) It was pretty good. Def worth another visit!

Gyozas...good stuff.

Salad...
The fried rice was sooooo good. Some of the best I have had in a long time. This is part of the combo with the ramen.

Now...the reason why we came. The Ramen...they only make one kind, so ordering is easy.

This is the full bowl. Next time the 1/2 is probably ok too. So good...I ordered the "extra back fat" special flavoring. Yummy!

Al and John - my buds

http://badcopnodonuts.com/2009/08/04/giving-credit-where-its-due/

Game recognize game and this man did it way back. So remember to take inspiration from wherever you can but never forget to give credit where’s it’s due and above all else add your own flair, message and personal touch to it.

I ran into Albert Roxas on Saturday Morning and it was a trip because I’ve always been a fan of his work. If you’re not familiar with the name then you might recognize the magazine he launched several years back called TuningWerks. For me personally, that magazine set the benchmark for design and photography and till today it’s never been matched. The paper quality was outstanding (and more along the lines of a coffee book), the design and use of negative space was slick, and the photography was nothing short of stellar.

Sample shot of the photography found inside TuningWerks.

I always looked up to that magazine as motivation and I won’t lie, a lot of inspiration was remixed from that magazine and put into HH. That magazine had soul and you can tell that a lot of effort was put into it and I wanted readers of HH to feel the same way. So if you’re up on the magazine game then you know what I’m talking about, and if you’re not then look back into history and if at all possible pick up whatevers left of TuningWerks because trust me, even up to now there’s no magazine that could go toe to toe with even their oldest of issues.

Here’s a shot that Albert took of the Lexus. Sorry…I still havent taken pictures of it so this’ll have to do for now.

HFD T Shirt

This is the REAL DEAL! The official t shirt/uniform of the HONOLULU FIRE DEPARTMENT. A good friend's brother is a fireman in Hawaii and was able to hook this up...and my friend was going to Hawaii to see family so he brought it back for me.

I have one of the fakes from the Ala Moana mall...but now I have the real one!

SEI-KO-EN Korean BBQ - Greg's Bday Dinner

Went to Torrance this evening to celebrate Greg's bday. We went to this bbq place called Seo-Ko-En on Western and Sepulveda. The yelp reviews were spot on. It is definitely a family hole in the wall place with possibly the WORST ventilation of any restaurant I ever been too. It is literally SMOKY as you walk in....but...with that being said. The food is good...and the meat very tender and tasty. This place can get kinda pricey since it is NOT AYCE...so be warned. A couple of meat plates and the bill can surprise you.

The app...this comes automatically to your table. I have to say..some of the BEST bean sprouts I have ever eaten. So flavorful and deelish. Really good stuff. I ate all of mine...and wanted more.

Table setting...you actually get BIBS here...because the grease gets flying in here!

My friends ate this...I passed. No raw meat for me....but it sure looks good for a pic though.
Kim Chee and assorted pickled veggies.

mmmm...meat. Look at the marbling...

beef tongue...

heaven on a grill...

A little KINGS HAWAIIAN Chocolate Dobash never hurt no one....this is one helluva cake!
yummy...
