Dinner at CiUDAD - Downtown Los Angeles

I met my friend for dinner this evening at CiUDAD in Downtown LA. This place has a name as it is run by the same two ladies that run Border Grill. I had to have the tortilla soup.... below....

My entree was an easy choice. Per Yelp everyone says get the Gaucho I did.

My friend got a chicken dish...

Overall a nice little place. It was a tad on the pricier side but good nonetheless! DEELISH!

Thriller Tribute by Adam Sevani

Great tribute to MJs Thriller but Adam Sevani of the AC/DC dance cru battle against the M&M cru. Dude can dance...

Do you like SCRATCHIN'???

I shot this back in 2006 at COMIC CON in San Diego. I was working that show when I was at First Look and we had a small booth that I was while walking around I came across the HOT WHEELS booth. They hired DJs that were KILLING it live.

I have always wanted to be a DJ. Growing up a lot of friends were DJs and man I just had no skills for it. I could not hear the beats and match them or nothing. Man and scratching? Forget it...if I could not combine two songs there was no way I can scratch. Of course my hero has always been Q BERT....dude is god. I also like DJ Z Tripp and there are a bunch of local cats that are just awesome. Man I still have some Q Bert and the Invisible Scratch Pickles CASSETTES! That is how old school I am...sheesh.

anyways here is my video I shot back in 2006 of these DJs handling their business at Comic Con. I spoke to the main dude and even got his card...but I have since lost it and don't even know his name to give him props. So whoever you are bad ass!

I am done. 4 days and that is it. No more of this drinking shakes and eating bars for sustenance. Tonight I had a real dinner. My sister and I ordered in some thai food. BBQ Chicken and Shrimp Fried Rice NEVER...and I mean NEVER TASTED SO GOOD.

I really understand why diets and stuff dont work. You cannot deprive simply cannot. Moderation, exercise...and some common sense. I dont even want to begin to rant on this. I am glad it is over...I am going to have a great weekend...EATING good food and hanging out with friends. YES!

Day 3 - Reset : MOTIVATION

Third day of this RESET. I am in pain..pain of having something tasty in my mouth. I think I am going to stir fry some green beans and throw some Mrs. Dash for dinner. This strawberry shake in front of me is NOT doing it for me.

No to the good stuff...I have lost some weight. I have lost about 4lbs. I am happy because when I jumped in the shower this evening...I could see a little difference. THE BELLY IS A LITTLE SMALLER! So yes there is a difference...the naked me is definitely a little slimmer.

But...I dont know if the RESET is the reason...I mean ANYONE can lose 5 lbs NOT EATING for 5 days...and just doing shakes and veggies and fruit. I do not feel bad at all..and I know some detox's can make you sick. This one does not...but all the fiber does make me feel sick and have to poo a lot more often which I do not like.

I have 2 more days...let's see if I can make this happen. Sigh....

Day 2 of RESET it is 3:30PM on day 2. Man is this hard. I here is the deal. I am feeling satisfied as in hunger. But what is hard is my TASTE BUDS are killing me. I want TASTE, I want FLAVOR. Again, I am not feeling starved at all, but my mouth and tastebuds are just dying for something that tastes good.

Man...these shakes and bars are just not enough to satisfy the flavor part of dieting. This sucks. I am craving some GOOD food. Not for hunger...but for FLAVOR. Ugh...tonight I am going to "cheat" and fry up some string beans with Mrs. Dash...and eat that. Maybe that will help.

I dunno if I can make it the whole week... =(

ZUNE Upgrade

In my on going quest to own NOTHING APPLE in my life....yes I do NOT own an IPOD I had to pick up the Microsoft ZUNE. I used to own a 40GB Toshiba Gigabeat but the software was horrible and it never synced correctly. So after looking around I read that the NEW THIRD GEN, Zune 120GB was out I jumped on it....

so far the interface is pretty easy and I like the look of the player, nice big color screen and its small and light. If any problems arise I will post up. But so good. I am happy. Plus with 120GB I am good for music for a long full collection now is a little over 40GB so I have plenty of room for more stuff.

Finally decided to chuck my old Energizer rechargeable batteries that were 2500 mAh to these bad boys...2900 baby!!! Trust me..these things in a digital camera...last forever!!!

Nov 4 - Do it!

Tales From The Hood - "Funky White People"

I experienced this yesterday and had to blog about it. It was just too funny to ignore and I wanted to remember it and share it with my 2-3 readers of my blog. I went to take my car to the local ghetto car self service car wash. If any of you live in the hood, you know what I am talking about, mine cost $2 for 4 mins to wash your car. I have been going here since I could drive as it is literally down the street from my mom's house. As I am putting along I approach traffic where we must stop a little and what rolls up next to me? Car load of what I assume as college students from OXY a private college in the area. 2 girls in the front and 2 guys (backwards caps and all) in the backseat. It looked like a VW commecial. the car rolled up and stops next to me, the music is blasting...and what are they playing?

MISTADOBLINA by Del Tha Funky Homosapien!!!

Seriously I almost peed my pants. And the driver was SINGING/RAPPING it TO ME!!! She thought she was soooo cool!

Last piece of the know what car they were in??

So let's recap...picture this in your mind...

A Toyota Prius, filled with "cool" white kids, loudly singing/rapping MISTADOBALINA in Highland Park, CA. WTF is the world coming to? to me...personally what kills me is the choice of song. Who even knows the song? It is such an obscure 90s rap song that I was shocked that these yahoos even know what they were listening to. I wish I had my was too funny.

DAY 1 of the cleanse

Here is how my meal looked this morning...

Here are our RESET packs...mine and my sisters....4 days to go!

Whachooo Know Bout These???

PF Flyers Albin Shoes....

A nice casual shoe that can go from work to the club pretty easily. Can be worn with jeans, khakis and yes...dress slack as well. The shoes have great detail...look at the wrinkled leather top, contrast white rubber sole, and the patent leather toe box. Another cool detail is the inside of the shoe. The printed inside fabric really makes it pop.

This style has been pretty popular for a few years. The most popular is the Converse All Star. Even more stylish is the John Varvatos version of the same shoes. The PF Flyer is a different take and I like it because hey its definitely unique and not a lot of people have these let alone even heard of them. Which of course makes them all that better!

Tuesday, October 21, 2008 watch G4 TV!!!

G4 TV is part of the Comcast Entertainment group.....including E! and Style network! WOOHOOO!!!!

Congratulations to Jason and Nena

This weekend I went to Vegas to attend my friend Jason's wedding. It was on 10/18 and it was held at the JW Marriot in Summerlin Las Vegas. What a beautiful wedding. The property is beautiful and we could not of bought a better day. Perfect sunshine, not windy, not too hot it was literally perfect.

I am very very proud of this shot...look how great this came out!

I had Chicken for the reception dinner.....

Group shot of the old crew of how and where I know Jason. Jason and I used to work together at the Recycler and we also went to college together and graduated at the same time from Long Beach state. In this pic is basically the old crew from those years of my life when we just hung out at school and played pool all the time. Pictured...from top left - Norvin, Jeff, Warren, Vince, Bernie, Gabe, me and the happy new couple, Jason and Nena.

really nice and huge ball room....and a really tasty cake too!

The obligatory shot with the couple....can you tell I am sucking in the belly? was good times and good reconnecting with old friends and catching up. Had an awesome time and I wish the very best for Jason and Nena and their life together! Much love to you both always.

Lunch at MITSUWA

After the car show the fellas and I were starving. So we headed to Mitsuwa for some Japanese. I was told this was the place for RAMEN....
and it opened at 11AM and people were lined we jumped in line must be good right?
The broth was out of this world...good ass ramen. I was impressed...and will def come back. The other little eateries were good too at least from what my friends had, so I want to give those places a try too.
Santoka....for Ramen. Good stuff!

Japanese Classic Car Show - 2008

I attended this show last year when it was in Long Beach. Nicely done and priced just right. Other crappy shows charge like $10 and over...and you get crap. This show costs $5 and is PERFECT...right amount of cool cars, nice day, walking around, food and cool folks. I like this show and will support it. I hope to have my car to show in it...maybe next year! Here are some shots....more can be seen here... JCCS

Complex magazine - O.Munn cover shoot!

After the Krispy Kreme event I wandered down to Joes Crab Shack and saw this...and the HOUNDS OF HELL!!!

This must if been a PIT BULL only event...

Man check out these dogs...a couple of these looked like cartoons. I mean unreal muscles and these huge heads. I must say...pretty dang scary. These things don't even bark....take a look at these pics. The dogs are pretty sweet.

SGV PCA meet at Krispy Kreme

I woke up bright and early this morning and headed out to Krispy Kreme donuts off Azusa and the 60 Freeway, Hacienda Hts area. We had a few cars show up...but had fun chatting it up, eating donuts and drinking coffee bean.

One of the cool things we had was we had a GT2, GT3 and a GT3-RS....which I am thinking pretty rare....maybe not.

All-in-one Driving and Engine Performance Monitor

When it comes to informational data, most automobiles tend to be pretty stingy on details. You really get just the basics - speed, fuel, odometer, and engine temperature. That's not a lot of info especially when you're a tech-hungry geek - we want to see more and fortunately the Car Chip Pro delivers.

No tools or automotive expertise required! Just plug Car Chip Pro into the OBDII port (easily found under the dashboard or steering wheel) and it reads and stores data from your car's on-board computers, continuously logging driving and engine performance. On-board diagnostics (OBD) data was once available only to professional mechanics. With Car Chip Pro, this same data is now in your hands.
